Holy Island Crossings privacy policy

Last updated:

Holy Island Crossings is an independent app by Jessica Mumby. It is not made, checked or endorsed by Northumberland County Council.

In short

This app collects no data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it makes no network requests. The app sends nothing you do in it to me or to anyone else.

What the app keeps on your phone

To work, the app saves a few settings on your phone:

  • whether you are driving or walking;
  • which version of the safety note you have read;
  • the visits you plan, by the crossing window and how you are crossing;
  • on Android, whether the app has asked to set exact alarms;
  • when each alert for your planned visits is due.

The app never sends them anywhere, and deleting the app deletes them. On iPhone they are part of an iCloud or computer backup if you use one, like any app's settings. On Android they are left out of cloud backups and of transfers to a new phone.

Notifications

Alerts are local notifications, set on your phone by the app for the visits you plan. No server is involved. On iPhone and on Android 13 or later, the app asks before it sends notifications. You can turn them off at any time in your phone's settings.

Crash reports

If you have chosen in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may send me anonymous crash reports about the app. The app itself sends nothing.

Crossing times

The crossing times are built into the app. They are a copy of Northumberland County Council's published safe crossing times, so the app does not contact the council, or anyone else, when you use it.

Links

Some buttons open a web page in your phone's browser: the council's crossing times, this policy and my contact page. The council's website has its own privacy policy. This policy and my contact page are on my website, which counts page views anonymously with Vercel Web Analytics and uses no third-party cookies.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, this page will show the new version and its date. Collecting any data would need a new version of the app and a new policy first.
